Who Is PA CareerLink Delaware County?

PA CareerLink Delaware County has many youth employment programs. One career development initiative is the Allied Health Program, administered through the Delaware County Community Action Agency.

We offer this youth employment program to job seekers aged 17 – 24. Eligible youths should have a high school diploma or an equivalent qualification. Participants receive specialized training that qualifies them to work as clinical medical assistants.

In addition to the clinical skills, participants of the Allied Health Program gain valuable skills like job search techniques, leadership development, and financial literacy.

Do You Need to be In School to Take Advantage of the Youth Programs

Typically, our youth employment program targets youths who are currently out of school. The individuals in this group face significant barriers to employment as they lack the educational credentials or work experience required to secure a job easily.

Do You Need a GED?

A GED is not a requirement for our youth employment program. Our main focus is to help all disadvantaged youths, including those without a GED or high school diploma, access employment opportunities. Regardless of the educational gaps, we equip these young adults with skills that will make them successful in the job market.

How Does PA CareerLink Delaware County Help With Youth Employment?

On top of our youth employment program, PA CareerLink offers career coaching to help maximize one’s chances of employment. Our career coaches provide job search services like resume writing and interview preparation.

Moreover, the career coaches at PA CareerLink Delaware County help our beneficiaries improve their job search approach and communication skills. Our career coaching services give youths the confidence to navigate the US competitive job market.

PA CareerLink also helps youths to find paid or unpaid work to build their experience. The placements help disadvantaged youths gain industry-specific knowledge alongside expanding their professional network.

We understand that some of the youths we serve might not access computers and the internet. For this reason, we have a facility equipped with computers. Disadvantaged job seekers can walk into our facility and use these computers for job searches, applications, or resume updates. The youths can also use our free computers to connect and communicate with potential employers.

How Can I Sign up For These Services?

Delaware residents who wish to join our youth employment program can simply register online. We will request basic information like personal details, skills, and your resume. After you complete the online registration, one of our career coaches will walk you through the job search process.
