Employment Assessment and Career Guidance
Delaware County recognizes that each job seeker’s needs are unique, therefore provides job seekers with an effective employment assessment and career guidance process, designed to help them assess their interests, values, transferable skills and barriers to employment.
Once engaged in this highly collaborative process, job seekers receive highly individualized services and support to help them move forward toward their chosen employment goal. Job seekers who are fully registered in the online Careerlink system and attend an orientation session, are eligible to request a 1:1 meeting with a Career Development Specialist at either site in Delaware County, to begin their assessment and career guidance process. Career Development Specialists have master’s degrees, extensive experience in workforce development and hold the designation of Certified Global Career Development Facilitator.
Practitioners invest in ongoing professional development to ensure they possess the proper skills to meet the varying needs of job seekers who come to the PA CareerLink® for assistance. The initial meeting with a Career Development Specialist is an opportunity for job seekers to openly share barriers to employment, need for support services, past employment experiences and aspirations for their future career.
